Summary
This is the first of two levels in the Labor series.
Incumbents perform manual labor related to the maintenance of Parish roads, grounds and buildings. Responsibilities may include mowing; weed eating; trimming trees; picking up litter; sweeping; mopping; shoveling, raking and pouring asphalt; flagging traffic; driving a pickup truck; and completing routine maintenance on vehicles, buildings and equipment. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision and within well-defined practices and procedures.
Examples of Duties

- Maintains facilities and grounds which includes mowing; weed eating; trimming trees; picking up litter; sweeping; mopping; shoveling, raking, and pouring asphalt; and flagging traffic.
- Operates and maintains a variety of vehicles, equipment and tools; completes routine maintenance on equipment, tools, and vehicles.
- Perform minor building maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs, moving furniture and other non-technical duties.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTSValid Driver's License as per State law or requirement.

UNIFORM An employee in this position will be supplied with a uniform, provided by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. The employee is responsible for abiding by the Police Jury's Uniform Agreement.
