Summary of Description:

The Technician will work under the supervision of an assigned specific discipline and based on experience the individual evaluates, selects, and applies standard applicable techniques. Could include discipline work of purchasing, expediting, NDT Inspection, project controls, surveying, laser scanning, schedulers, planner, construction inspectors, project coordinators, automation, controls, etc.

Duties:

  • Assists assigned supervisor in various aspects of projects assigned.
  • Applying standard discipline techniques to make minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) with additional specialized training, or college course work, and at least eleven (11) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

License Requirements:
  • Valid Driver's License as per State law or requirement
Specific Skills:
  • Detailed working knowledge of Policies and Procedures related to project work.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.

ELECTRICAL and INSTRUMENTATION (E&I) QUALITY INSPECTOR

Job Requirements

10 or more years of gas and oil field experience in the areas of instrumentation and electrical construction, installation, and maintenance. Experience in a quality role is a plus.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supporting an operating facility as an Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) quality inspector in Engineering Services department. Candidate will serve as instrumentation/electrical quality control and field technical support for capital projects, including, but not limited to, new electrical and field instrument installations, brownfield installations, start up and commissioning and Management of Change evaluation, execution and PSSR support.
  • Communicate deficiencies with Project Manager, as well as with the Discipline Engineers and Craft Supervision, to help and facilitate corrective actions as required.
The Ideal Candidate shall have experience in the following:
  • Field instrumentation for process measurement (e.g. Pressure, Temperature, Level, and Flow) as well as specialty measurements (density, vibration) and control valves, shutdown valves, and their transmission systems (e.g. 4-20mA, HART)
  • Understand basics of piping for instruments, tubing and fittings, signal transmission media, basic understanding of communication hardware and software, and basic process and safety requirements for field devices
  • Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), machinery controls and protection systems, Fire and Gas Systems
  • Instrumentation cabling, wiring, junction box, power supply, distribution, and UPS systems
  • Understand Instrumentation Society of America (ISA) and American Petroleum Association (API) Symbols and Process and Instrumentation Diagram and how to read a P&ID
  • Electrical equipment to include transformers, protective relays, lighting, grounding, and electrical distribution equipment up to 15kV.
  • Understand and able to interpret NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E
  • Observe electrical installation for good workmanship and NEC compliance.
  • Ability to read and understand one-line diagrams, power plans and control schematics
  • Witness insulation resistance testing of electrical equipment Familiarity with measurement, control devices and electrical equipment from major vendors in the gas and oil industry
  • Witness wire continuity testing, instrument calibration and loop check activities.
  • Perform field verification of control panels and electrical distribution systems.
  • Observe contractor and consultant activities during construction and provide photos and daily inspection reports to document work in the field.
  • Review shop drawings and RFI submittals
  • Observe start up and commissioning efforts.
  • Development and tracking of quality plans for E&I equipment
