DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:* Under general supervision, engages in receiving, shipping, unpacking, picking, staging, storage, verification, and monitoring of stock and non-stock items for surgical services. Maintains a high standard of accuracy and interacts frequently with the hospital data controlsystem and with the surgery system.SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Asst. Director of Materials ManagementRESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:* Examines incoming shipments to verify receipt of the correct types and quantity of materials and supplies.* Unpacks and inspects items for damage/shortage.* Stores items at designated locations accurately.* Interacts with data control system and with the surgery system to identify classification of items (stock/non-stock). Accurately processes items according to standard operating procedures.* Performs par level counts as assigned and inputs levels to produce pick letters.* Interacts with customers to review par levels, as well as receiving and delivery information.* Maintains records of material and supplies and related materials management activities, as required.* Picks and stages items for shipment to vendors.The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Accuracy in checking, posting and counting. Simple use of automated office equipment. Adaptable to clerical routines.* Work Experience: Over one year (up to and including) three years.* Knowledge of the principles of receiving, storing, picking, staging, and shipping materials.* Ability to operate material handling equipment.* Ability to communicate effectively with staff to resolve problems relating to warehouse/distribution functions.* Knowledge of the methods and procedures of taking inventory.* Ability to update and maintain inventory records on data control system.* Operates material handling equipment, including forklifts, electric pallet movers, etc.Physical Demands/Work Environment* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, bend, reach, walk, type. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.* Operates material handling equipment, including forklifts, electric pallet movers, etc.* May be exposed to dust, heat, and humidity to the degree of being disagreeable.* Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.* Good vision with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Observing and area that can be seen up and in a given point. This factor is important when job performance requires seeing a large area while keeping the eyes fixed.* Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work.
