Boilermaker

The primary duties of a Boilermaker are to repair and maintain boilers, condensers, and pressure vessels. Must be able to layout, design and build platforms, catwalks, booms, etc. Changes basket and flat strainers and make necessary repairs to strainers and strainer pot.

Equipment and tools: Issued tools needed to repair all equipment worked on. The tools consist of impact wrenches, box end and open wrenches, drill bits, tube rollers, respirator.

Safety requirements: Exercise caution to follow all safety rules and regulations while working on any and all equipment assigned to repair or operate. Must wear a respirator at all times when changing cement strainers. Must be able to use Fresh Air Equipment when needed.

Physical activities: Must be in good physical condition, capable of climbing, bending, heavy lifting, stooping, carrying, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, turning, and walking. Capable of working in confined areas, heat, cold and inclement weather. Normal hearing and vision required. Also capable of working from heights.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Prefer 5 years relative industrial boilermaker experience. Good communication skills, ability to handle multiple assignments, good troubleshooting skills. Experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting a plus. Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift.

On the job training: Computer Based Learning (CBL's), also off site training is provided when needed depending on job position and requirements.

Comments: Should have good coordination and understand and carry out all job instructions. Should be able to read and understand prints and sketches. Should be able to read and understand job safety reviews. Should know hand signals for crane. Must be able to work well with others.

Certain roles at Firestone Polymers are required to be on Emergency Response Teams (ERT) to respond to any emergencies that could come up at the site. Being on the ERT team requires passing a physical and additional trainings, including exterior firefighting, high-angle rescue, HazMat response, etc. The role you're applying for could require ERT training. It's also possible that ERT training will be required when moving into new roles or transferring departments.
