Location: Remote, USAbout this RoleThe U.S. Internal Audit Program Manager will drive and execute program risk management oversight across GiveDirectly's cash transfer projects within the U.S. Responsibilities include leading end‑to‑end fraud and risk management, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, recruiting and managing internal audit teams, and driving operational excellence and improvement.Reports to: Senior Manager, Internal AuditTravel RequirementMay require travel 3–4 times per year for high‑risk investigations or team gatherings. Trips will vary by project location.What You'll DoRepresent IA in country project design conversations and develop strategic risk management measures.Oversee new project risk scoping exercises and submit risk scoping reports.Develop project‑specific Internal Audit proposals with audit rates and approaches.Create and maintain risk registers and ensure they are updated regularly.Review relevant tech implementation tools to align with risk detection and prevention.Own and monitor Internal Audit KPIs and resolve critical metric gaps.Create reports and dashboards reflecting team performance.Lead investigations of suspected sensitive fraud cases and communicate findings.Monitor risk reporting trends and flag high‑risk projects to leadership.Examine program implementation data for quality standards and report inconsistencies.Develop and monitor risk escalation protocols.Lead the internal audit team in detecting safeguarding, fraud, abuse, and conflicts of interest.Build and manage stakeholder relationships to ensure deliverables are tracked.Collaborate with fraud management stakeholders for sustainable resolution.Facilitate weekly or bi‑weekly risk discussion meetings with senior leaders.Support hiring and onboarding of IA staff as needed.Work with cross‑functional teams to ensure the audit team has necessary resources.Assist with surge events such as fraud spikes or coordinated fraud within projects.Participate in cross‑country initiatives as a US IA representative.Support tech‑related fraud prevention innovations.Travel to annual cross‑team retreats and colocation events.Help utilize AI and technology to improve fraud risk management.Proactively improve IA operations' efficiency and effectiveness.People Management & Culture BuildingDirectly manage Internal Audit Associates and project coordinators.Conduct regular check‑ins and performance reviews.Set performance metrics and individual goals.Develop a team with strong analytical and communication skills.Provide career growth assessments and coordinate development sessions.Hire IA staff in line with project workloads.Model ethical behavior and encourage reporting of misconduct.Maintain compliance with Company policies and Code of Conduct.Promote a values‑based culture and recognize achievements.Identify and manage sub‑cultures that pose safeguarding risks.Conduct annual training on fraud mitigation.Manage conflicts and escalating risks within the team.What You'll BringExceptional alignment with GiveDirectly values and core competencies.3+ years of experience in risk management, anti‑fraud, audit, compliance or related fields.Track record of innovating in risk prevention and detection, including AI and digital tools.Ability to manage day‑to‑day operations while contributing to long‑term objectives.Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple streams.Analytical problem‑solving mindset with prioritization frameworks.Strong data analysis skills and familiarity with R, SQL or similar.Excellent communication skills across stakeholders.Independent, self‑directed work style with proactive risk communication.Enthusiast for fast‑paced environments.Fluency in English; Spanish and/or Arabic preferred.CompensationThe U.S. base salary for this role is $94,700 per year.
